About Us

Founded in 2018, Sharp Skate Club is the first online skate sharpening subscription service for quick release skate blades. That’s right, no more waiting for your skates to get sharpened, no more sitting on the bench with a lost edge, no more games lost because of poor blade performance.

With our service you sign up for a membership, log into your account to request a sharpening, and your specified set of sharpened blades will be delivered in up to 3-5 business days. On your first shipment, you don’t need to return your blades as this is your initial extra set.

As soon as your next sharpening arrives, via USPS First Class, 3-5 Days, easily ship your dull blades back to us using the prepaid label included in the box. As soon as you attach the label you can leave it for your Postal Carrier to pickup.

Using state-of-the-art equipment, we proudly hand-sharpen all skate blades. To learn more about sharpening and grind types we offer, click here.

About the Owner

Sharp Skate Club’s founder, Minnesota native Derek Stutz, has been skating on the ice since he could walk. Coming from a family of hockey players, Derek played throughout high school for White Bear Lake, during which time he sharpened skates for the local pro-shop before entering college.

Since then he has played in the local four-man pond hockey league at Lake Nokomis in Minneapolis. He also has participated in the Minnesota Wild adult hockey league at the Super Rink in Blaine, Minn., and the Southwest Men’s league. Recently he has been a referee for the Minneapolis Parks and Recreational Association heading up games for U9 – U15.

“I remember multiple times growing up playing hockey where I would literally lose an edge mid-game. Nothing is more frustrating than not being able to perform at your best. On top of that, waiting hours to get your skates sharpened is unnecessary it today’s world. I saw an opportunity to meet the needs of players everywhere, and Sharp Skate Club was created.” – Derek, Owner and Hockey Player
